There’s a stretch we like to do at the gym with our members and it’s affectionately called “The World’s Greatest Stretch”. That’s actually its real, very scientific name. 🙂 There are a few variations of this movement in the fitness field, but the one we use at Valeo will have every muscle from the tip of your toe to the top of your head smiling. Give it a go before or after your next workout, or just as you’re watching TV after a long day sitting at your desk. We think you’ll dig it.

How to do The World’s Greatest Stretch:

Begin in a push-up position, then bring the right foot in line with the left hand. Feel the hip on the left side and glutes on the right side streeeeetch.

Position 1: Let the chest and thoracic spine muscles join the fun by opening up to the right and raising your arm overhead – keep your gaze up.

Position 2: Now lower to your elbow and keep the open posture.

Position 3: Place both hands on the ground, straighten both legs, and lift the front leg’s toes off the ground to activate and stretch the posterior chain (back, glutes, hamstrings, calves).

Hold each position for a good 10-20 seconds.

Whaddya think?! Does this rank as The World’s Greatest Stretch for you?! Give us a shout on our Facebook page to let us know you’ve given this a try!
