One of the very best parts of having scheduled, structured exercise sessions during your week is the ability to be more active in your everyday life outside of the gym walls. Not only do you look, feel, and move better from having a strategic program to follow like our members do here at Valeo, you’re able to simply do life adventures with both enjoyment and longevity.
Structured exercise (that is programmed with purpose) allows us to age gracefully and live independently years into adulthood. Most of our members cite wanting 1.) accountability and 2.) wanting to be strong so they can keep doing what they want to do as some of the top reasons they choose to keep coming, to keep moving their body, and to keep lifting the weights. Did you know that the the inability to do daily tasks like getting up from the toilet is the primary reason aging adults are transferred to assisted living facilities? Many of our members have seen or are seeing their parents go through this and are determined to start the process of prevention now…and the REALLY GREAT NEWS is that it’s never too late to begin incorporating balance and muscle-maintaining focus into your life. (If you need help knowing how to do that, we’re here).
Structured exercise also allows us to get off the sidelines and get in the game. Life can be so fun when you actually feel well and capable to engage in it! Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in the notion of exercise (sweat, work, grind) that we forget the beauty of simple activity (leisure, active rest, playfulness)….the everyday life things that regular exercise enables us to keep doing (well). While exercise and activity are two different categories of movement, each are good for the heart in their own way, am I right?! 🙂
Riding your bike to the Farmers Market, playing in the lake at the beach, chasing your grandkids around the kitchen island, picking up and carrying toddlers (over and over), waterskiing on pristine waters, hiking around some trails, working in the yard, hunting, moving your college student’s furniture up and down the stairs, golfing with buddies. These are some real and fun reasons to keep coming to the gym! |
