Mike hails from Purdue where he studied Exercise Science and helped power the Crew team across the Wabash River. His passion for Strength & Conditioning began in his training days for football, rowing, and well, just being strong. An avid learner who loves people, he’s always keeping the gym a fun, welcoming space and helping our members achieving feats in their fitness they didn’t know possible. When not designing stellar workouts or on the floor training, Mike can be found reading audiobooks, studying apologetics, tackling home projects, or wrestling with his two boys (sometimes he wins).

Jess graduated as Exercise Science major of the year (2003) from Hope College, and afterward, spent time serving in corporate wellness and receiving mentorship from top fitness leaders at the Institute of Human Performance. It was this experience that led her to start Valeo in 2006 from her apartment, growing it to what it is today with her passion for functional training and for creating a space for people to feel welcomed and proud of themselves. When not working behind the scenes at the gym, she’s near woods or water, keeping cozy at home or looking for the next adventure to do with her and Mike’s two wild and precious boys, Cruz and Hunter.

Kelly currently serves in the Michigan Army National Guard, regularly assisting her fellow comrades in preparation for the Army Physical Fitness Test and helping to educate them on how to maintain their fitness to meet Army requirements. Clearly no stranger to hard work, she’s been honored to have been nominated for and to have competed in the “Soldier of the Year” for the state of Michigan….the only female to do so (yeah, she’s pretty awesome). Aside from exercising and training, she also enjoy hiking, reading and spending time with her family and beloved dog, Debo.
