Eight is great.
That’s our philosophy here at Valeo.
Research and our experience show that those who go the the gym (in this case, Valeo) at least 8 times a month achieve the greatest results.
This doesn’t mean twice a week of aimlessly moving from machine to machine with no strategy or direction.
Instead, it means focusing on weight lifting that progressively overloads your muscles with purpose – moving you in multiple directions, following functional movement patterns (pushing, pulling, hinging, squatting, rotating…) and pumping your heart a bit faster.
Of course, getting in some movement outside of those two days is important – we love slow walking, which has proven stress-reduction powers, and, if you find yourself idle for long periods of time, getting up every hour to get some steps in is really helpful to keep your joints and body healthy.
Not quite achieving a twice-a-week weight training gym rhythm yet?
Here’s a sneaky tip:
Schedule gym days in your calendar (our members use a handy app to do this!) for NINE times in the month. Inevitably, something will come up – and you may not make it to one. But even then, you’ll have made it 8 times and not only reap the physical benefits, but feel (even more) proud of yourself, too!
So…are you up for the challenge? If you aren’t already hitting the weights 8 times a month, May is the month to start. You’ve got this!
