About

In this preventative health field, appropriate qualifications are essential. Aside from our university education in Exercise Science, we are both First Aid/CPR/AED certified and hold certifications from some of the top organizations in our field. Jessica is a Certified Personal Training Specialist (CPTS) with honors through the Fitness Institute International and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. Mike also maintains his certification through the prestigious National Strength and Conditioning Association, as a Certified Personal Trainer (NSCA-CPT).

We perform the majority of our training at Ultimate Fitness and Health, outdoors, at your own home, or at DeVos Fieldhouse, in partnership with Hope College’s H20 Wellness program.

Mike Luepke

Mike-LuepkeI attended Purdue University, where I pursued a degree in Health & Fitness and received a minor in business. As a part of the Purdue Rowing Team and an active participant in intramural sports, I regularly helped my teammates and friends train for the sports in which we competed. At that time, I first began to seriously consider training as a career, became certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine and began training at a local gym in West Lafayette. After school, I moved to Holland, where I met my then-future wife, Jessica. In May of 2009, I teamed up with valeo / personal training and regularly work with athletes, both young and old, weekend warriors, working moms, and those just looking to put a little more “spring in their step.” I pride myself in working with my clients to aggressively reach their fitness goals by developing individualized programming using safe and effective progressions. I love working with my clients and educating them about how they can maintain their fitness.

Jessica Luepke

Jessica-LuepkeI am a Hope College alum, where I studied Kinesiology, majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Psychology. My years at Hope were highlighted with various achievements, including Phi Beta Kappa honors, being recognized on the MIAA Honor Roll of Athletes and receiving AAPHERD’s “Exercise Science Major of the Year” (2003) award. After graduation, I worked in corporate wellness at The Wellness Center in Grand Rapids before pursuing my personal training education at The Fitness Institute International in Boca Raton, Florida. While in Florida, I had the privilege of learning under professionals at the premier functional training facility, the Institute of Human Performance. This experience fueled my interest in purposeful, fun and safe program-design based on scientific theories and real-life movement. After returning to Michigan, I started valeo / personal training and focus each session on improving functional strength, whether in the athletic setting or in everyday life.

As a collegiate Track and Field runner, current recreational sprint triathlete, and general-fitness specialist, I know firsthand the importance of smart and effective training and the benefit that strength training adds to any regimen. I strongly believe that our bodies and minds are dependent on exercise; put simply – we were made to move! I’ve worked with a wide-range of ages and abilities and love seeing someone, whether they are brand-new to exercise or a seasoned-athlete, walk away with their head held a little higher from a sense of personal accomplishment.
